Niklas Krütten will be sponsored by the ADAC Sports Foundation in 2019

Special honour for 16-year-old Niklas Krütten. Just a few days after the announcement that he will line up in Formula 4 for Van Amersfoort Racing in 2019, the ADAC Sports Foundation has released details of its squad for next season. He will be one of the drivers sponsored by the Foundation as of next year, which puts him in the company of drivers sponsored in the past by the ADAC Sports Foundation during its 20-year history. Four-time Formula 1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel, Nico Hülkenberg, DTM drivers Timo Glock, René Rast and Marco Wittmann and GT aces such as Maximilian Götz and Marvin Kirchhöfer were all accepted as members of the ADAC Sports Foundation’s squad at an early stage in their professional motor racing careers.

Krütten impressed everyone in his first season, including his team, fans and his fellow drivers. His first-rate performance has even come to the attention of the ADAC Sports Foundation’s governing body, as he was the only rookie to achieve finishes in the Top Three in 2018, which he did some three times in all. Krütten’s biggest triumph was his supreme victory in Race 3 at the Nürburgring. The 16-year-old was the best rookie in six races and ranked eighth in the overall standings, making him the best newcomer to Formula 4.

The ADAC Sports Foundation has been sponsoring young motor racing drivers aiming for the top since 1999. Its governing body includes ADAC Sports President Hermann Tomczyk and former racing drivers Hans-Joachim Stuck and Ralf Schumacher, who make the decision as to which juniors are accepted on the ADAC Sports Foundation sponsorship scheme. As a scholarship holder, Krütten will now receive a grant and take part in seminars on career planning, fitness, nutrition, media, marketing and engineering along with all current Sports Foundation protégés.

Krütten will contest his first race as an ADAC Sports Foundation protégé with his new team, Van Amersfoort Racing, at Oschersleben which is where the ADAC Formula 4 traditionally starts the season (26th – 28th April). Sport1 and Sport1.de will broadcast all ADAC Formula 4 races.

Niklas Krütten: “I intend to have another successful year in Formula 4. Everything is in place, and it’s just terrific that the ADAC Sports Foundation is now going to sponsor me. There’s a lot more to being a brilliant racing driver than just being fast. Self-marketing, media, fitness and nutrition are all important topics for any racing driver aiming for the top.”
